Dedication of Levites for God’s Work

Daily Words of Encouragement
By Priest Knight Scopas Juma Kamonde
Our Verse of Today (8/11/2017)
“In this way you are to set the Levites apart from the other Israelites and the Levites will be mine.” (Numbers 8: 14)
The Title of Our Today’s Topic: Dedication of Levites for God’s Work
Our verse of today was said by the Almighty God to Prophet Moses when He was narrating to Moses the procedures and conditions concerning the setting a part of the Levites for God’s work.
From our verse of today we can learn these very important and valuable points:
1.     Among the twelve tribes of Israel, God had chosen the Levites only to serve Him at His tent of meeting (later on it became the Temple of Jerusalem). This means that the Levites didn’t choose themselves by themselves to serve God but they were chosen by God.
2.     Concerning the other eleven tribes of Israel, they were directed to work for six days a week and to have rest on the seventh day (Sabbath day). But for the Levites, they were directed not to work elsewhere but only at the tent of meeting on daily basis and they must get their earnings (their life’s needs) from this work through the offerings and tithes from the members of the other eleven tribes.
3.     The main purpose for the choosing of both the Levites and Aaron plus his sons to work at the tent of meeting was that God wanted to maintain His spiritual presence among the Israelites for their; blessings, protection and prosperity.

My dear fellow Christians, for us to have the presence of God in our life, we need dedicated and chosen servants who must serve God as full time workers and they must get their life’s needs from the other Christians who supposed to work in the other fields through their tithes and offerings. By then we can enjoy God’s; blessings, protection and prosperity.
