Daily Words of Encouragement
By Priest Knight Scopas Juma Kamonde
Our Verse of Today (20/11/2017)
“In the course of time, David inquired of the Lord. “Shall I go up to
one of the towns of Judah?” he asked. The Lord said, “Go up”. David asked,
“Where shall I go?” “To Hebron,” the Lord answered. (2 Samuel 2: 1)
The Title of Our Today’s Topic: God’s Guidance
The previous verse was David’s
inquiry form God based on his desire to go to the land of Judah when he
returned back from fighting the Amalekites and he stayed in Ziklag.
From our verse of today we can learn
these very important and valuable points:
1. After the
death of King Saul, David knew that the time had come for him to rule Israel
but there was an opposition against him on ground under the leadership of one
of Saul’s son who was Ish-Bosheth supported by Abner the ex-commander of King
Saul’s army as well as the commander of Abner’s army.
2. Although
David was a strong warrior, nevertheless he was depending totally upon God his
helper and protector.
3. Based on
David’s love to God as well as his good fellowship with Him, he asked God’s
directive concerning his plan to go to the land of Judah and of course God had
directed him to return to Hebron one of the towns of Judah.
My dear fellow Christians in general, even though we are strong and
capable in any filed, let us not depend on that alone far from God because what
we have will not always be helpful in all circumstances but God’s presence to
our sides is very important because it brings His; power, protection, guidance
and blessings to us.
