The Sign of Baptism in the Old Testament

Daily Words of Encouragement
By Priest Knight Scopas Juma Kamonde
Our Verse of Today (6/11/2017)
“Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.” (Leviticus 8: 6)
The Title of Our Today’s Topic: The Sign of Baptism in the Old Testament
Summary of Our Message
From our verse of today we can learn these very important and valuable points:
1.     Aaron and his sons had been chosen by God to serve at the tent of meeting (the official place for God’s worship at that time and later on it was shifted or upgraded into Temple).
2.     Before Aaron and his sons started their official work at the tent of meeting, they had been officially and spiritually ordinated by Prophet Moses before the Israelite community.
3.     One of the main things that had been done to them by Prophet Moses was that they had been washed or cleansed by water before they were dressed in their official uniform and the process of their washing was a real sign of baptism.
My dear fellow Christians, if anyone of you have been called by God for His ministry, it doesn’t mean that the person will start serving God directly but there must be some official procedures to be done before the starting or launching the work such as; official dedication or ordination by those who are in charge or by the senior ones in the similar fields.
